Name: Damien Krensik
Nickname(s): Kresnik, Beastly One
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Species: Questionably Human (TL: Human in appearance, but due to tainted blood, displays some aspects of something less than human in terms of personality and other mannerisms)
Appearance
Height: 5'8"
Build: While he usually wears clothes that hide his build, Damien has a muscular build. His face is nothing special to the point one might not pay him much mind in a crowd unless one was actively searching for him.
Hair Color: Blonde. At a time, he had dyed his hair black and still does this as a disguise on occasion.
Eye Color: Golden eyes, an affereffect of the power within him thanks to tainted blood
Identifying traits: Wears a pair of sunglasses in public to hide his eyes. The sunglasses were custom made (and not cheap, either). Since he has to keep his "profession" a secret in less dangerous societies, he covers his weapon to keep it at least somewhat not very suspicious. His eyes are also visible in the darkness. He also wears a wolf fang necklace.
History: Damien came from, as he describes it, a world of chaos. One where death and destruction thanks to all kinds of supernatural monsters was common, but humans were just as guilty for the spread of such chaos. Behind the scenes, however, a god was using the people of that world as pawns in a game for his entertainment. Very few knew the truth, and those who did couldn't do anything about it. Because of this game, Damien had gone through a number of trials that twisted his views on the world like a pretzel into what he believes now. From his mother abandoning his family, entering a cooking contest that led to being targeted by heartless assassins simply for winning 2nd place to his dad's death and the kidnapping of his childhood friend, Damien was given a task at the time. "Find your answer," he was told.
In his search for his "answer," Damien fought evil cultists, dangerous monsters, experienced hellish training to learn even the basics of lightning magic, and even had the blood of a dangerous beast transplanted into his body after a near death battle. After fighting in an annual tournament with his allies and exposing the corruption in his country's military, his allies betrayed him and left him for dead, something he would later find out was a move as part of a larger game, where him, his former companions, and most of the others in his world, were just pawns to be commanded. His near death led to him being captured and forced to fight in an underground arena to pay off a debt. In reality, the man behind the operation had goals of destroying Damien's humanity to make a deadly pawn to get in on the game. He failed and was killed, leaving Damien to leave the underground city, having been thoroughly tormented to the point he nearly lost his humanity.
It was thanks to new companions he made (mostly not with his consent), that Damien began to lighten up a bit. A world of chaos, however, never lets someone like Damien have a happy ending. The demons of his past returned in the form of his old allies, the man who kidnapped his childhood friend, and his mother, who had become a powerful angel. All of this combined with the "climax" of the game, where a final battle between order and chaos took place on a flying island. On the island, one of his companions was killed and Damien learned of the nature of other worlds and the god who organized everything. After a dangerous encounter with a woman who gained the power of a god, he confronted the deity who schemed everything, but he fled before Damien could kill him.
Now, Damien travels from world to world, shutting down the deity's game in hopes he'll come out of hiding in order to kill him.
Personality
At first impression, Damien tends to come off as someone who's cold and doesn't care much for other people or their problems. He tends to say what he's thinking, regardless of whether it's rude or not, and among one of his older groups of allies, he ended up being the straight man to their shenanigans. To an enemy, however, is when his more beastly side begins to show. He's cruel and merciless to an enemy, but at the same time, and something he dislikes, is that he likes fighting strong enemies that can push him to his limits just to become stronger and stomp down a strong enemy at the same time. He has a habit of threatening to devour his enemies (not that he would actually do it).
While on the surface, he may seem like a cold hearted killing machine, it was the circumstances of his past and present that turned him into this. When he does have time away from fighting, he prefers to spend his time cooking, even though as a result of his new power, his sense of taste has been heavily affected, not allowing him to taste anything but meat and fish. Even with this downside, at least to him, cooking is one of the most "normal" things he believes himself capable of, as he's convinced himself that a monster has no place among humans. This, along with the weight of the knowledge of "the truth" making him distance himself from others has made him fairly lonely, even though he won't admit it out loud due to pride. Underneath the layers, however, there is a relatively kind soul who will destroy anyone who dares harm someone close to him.
Abilities
Prior to his...changes, Damien was trained by his dad to wield a one handed sword and a gun. After his untimely death, Damien underwent further training to refine his current skills and learn some lightning based techniques. Unlike most other residents of his original universe, his affinity with magic is terrible, to the point where he can barely even use the most basic of basic magic without it either failing or blowing up in his face. Magical artifacts won't work for him, either. To offset this, his techniques carry great destructive force, but carry the downside that he can only use one or two at a time before he's completely spent and needs to rest. He prefers to save these for stronger enemies or as a big finishing move. He can turn the mana in his own body into lightning to channel into his weapon or through his own body in order to use his body as a weapon, but this is dangerous and not recommended.
After his changes, Damien's sense of smell has grown and he can now see in the dark. However, one of the abilities of the beast who's blood inhabits his body was that it could devour other creatures to grow stronger, something Damien refuses to do as he believes doing so would be the same as throwing away his humanity. There was only one time he willingly devoured another creature, but it was because he had no other option but to do it. In desperate situations, he can call upon the true power of the beast's blood, but in this form, it's hard to stay under control for an extended period of time.
In order to damage the links connecting Origin's game, the power of slaying gods is necessary. Damien had acquired the power by devouring the corpse of one of his companions who had been experimented on and given the ability to kill gods, but he can only call on this power when close to a place where divine power is active, like one of Origin's links or a deity. Even then, he can only activate the power for a very short period and such overwhelming power is too much for his body to handle for too long. For some reason, he can also sometimes hear the telepathic voice of his dead companion in his head, like a guardian spirit following him around.
Dislikes: Annoying people who ask too many questions, corrupt authority figures, pointless deaths, interruptions during his training, overly nice people, driving vehicles, losing control of his emotions, small dogs that bark a lot
Likes: Cooking, wood carvings (he's personally bad at doing them), fighting strong opponents, critiquing other people's cooking (in his head, mostly), meat, wolves and other strong animals
